APEX outdoor
Adventure

Purpose Society

*PLEASE NOTE: APEX SUMMER PROGRAM WILL NOT BE RUNNING FOR SUMMER 2018. *

Apex Outdoor Adventure Program is a free 8-week program during the summer for at-risk youth, aged 13 - 18, to participate in a variety of weekly out-trips, including kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking. The Apex program empowers young people by supporting them through challenging activities in a compassionate, non-judgmental environment.

Free & confidential youth mental health counselling for youth under 22 is available at our Youth Clinic. We offer both drop-in and by-appointment counselling if you need someone to talk to!

MIND & BODY WELLNESS GROUP

Purpose Society

The Mind & Body Wellness Group focuses on everything self-care! Between school, work, and everything in between, life can be overwhelming, and it's so easy to forget to take care of our minds and bodies. Our MBW group is a chance to de-stress, eat good food, and do some serious(ly relaxing) stuff to take care of ourselves.

The Burnaby Youth Clinic provides free confidential information and education regarding sexuality and health to youth 21 & under. This includes: birth control education & provision; pregnancy testing & decision making; STI information, examinations & treatment; and HIV education & testing. No appointments necessary.

HOURS: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays - 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

HUB SECONDARY SCHOOL
Burnaby School District

The Hub Secondary School is an alternative education program run by the Burnaby School District. The program is designed for students aged 13 - 19 years who have dropped out of the regular school system or who have very high levels of non-attendance even though they have not officially withdrawn.

AFTER HOURS ART NIGHTS

Join our Hub Resident Artist, Maely, at our After Hours Art Night! Come to create, express, and explore using a variety of mediums in a totally nonjudgmental environment. Open to all youth 24 & under!

Everyone is welcome, and no experience is required! Snacks will be provided.

 

 

 

HUB OPEN ART STUDIO
Purpose Society & Burnaby Family Life

The Hub Open Studio is a new pilot program created by Burnaby Family Life, in partnership with the Lower Mainland Purpose Society. Facilitated by the Burnaby Family Life Child & Youth counsellor and certified art therapist, the Hub Open Studio is a place where youth can explore creating art with a range of materials, in a non-judgmental and nurturing environment. It represents a space where art can be used as a vehicle for expressing emotions and creativity. All youth 21  & under are welcome! 

Hub Open Studio runs every Tuesday at the Hub from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

RETAIL THEFT CIRCLE
Burnaby RCMP

The Retail Theft Circle provides a constructive and meaningful response to retail theft by creating an opportunity for accountability, understanding, and healing. This program provides victims an opportunity to share how the crime affected them, and allows the youth who have caused harm to take responsibility for their actions and to be actively involved in repairing that harm.

TRANS YOUTH & PARENTS PROGRAM
PLEA Community Services, MCFD, TransFamily Services & Purpose Society 

A partnership between PLEA Community Services, MCFD, TransFamily Services, and the Purpose Society, the Trans Support Group is an opportunity for discussion, information sharing, and support for both trans youth (25 years old and under) and the parents and caregivers of trans youth. Groups meet separately but simultaneously, and are free and open to anyone in the Fraser North area.

HUB YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL (YAC)
Purpose Society

Join the Hub Youth Advisory Council (YAC) to be part of our amazing youth leadership team! The YAC is a group of teens that meet to plan events for the Burnaby Youth Hub, get involved in the community, and make a difference! Get free training and experience in marketing, event coordination, team building, and leadership while earning volunteer hours. All youth 24 & under are welcome.

The YAC meets every other Thursday from 4:00pm - 5:30pm.
Everyone is welcome, and we’re always accepting new members!
